Another NCAA commit joins the Colorado organization.
The Top 25 Under 25 is a collaboration by Mile High Hockey staff members. Six writers have ranked players under the age of 25 in the Colorado Avalanche organization as of August 1, 2024. Now, we’ll count down each of the 25 players ranked.
William Zellers is yet another new addition to the Colorado Avalanche organization, as he was recently drafted 76th overall in the 2024 NHL draft in Colorado’s nine-pick draft class this year. The 18-year-old forward most recently played for Shattuck St. Mary’s 18U Prep team, in both the PHC and USHS-Prep leagues during the 2023-24 season.
With the team in the PHC league, Zellers played a total of 14 games, putting up 12 goals and 10 assists for a total of 22 points. With the team in the USHS-Prep league, he played 54 games, finishing with an astonishing 57 goals and 54 assists for 111 points. While Zellers did get an official invite to Colorado’s Development Camp this year, he did not actually play on the ice as he was injured unfortunately.
With his commitment to play NCAA hockey at the University of North Dakota, he will have plenty of opportunities to continue to round out and grow his game. The skill is already visible from Zellers, as he’s already a pretty strong puck handler and good at creating space, so it’s not at all hard to see why Colorado likes him and saw something in him.
