The Colorado Eagles are held to the least amount of shots on net this season in a 5–2 loss to the Abbotsford Canucks.
The Colorado Eagles will have to bounce back from an ugly game last night against the Abbotsford Canucks, which they lost 6–1. A moment in the first that scared every Eagles fan in the first was when Jayson Megna took a knee-on-knee hit but returned to the game.
Similar to the Colorado Avalanche, the Eagles will be without their captain tonight; the team has sidelined Megna. Colorado hopes they can shape up their power play unit, which did not score in eight chances last night. It was a lot of the same for the Eagles as they lost 5–2.
Takeaways
Colorado is having a problem with slow starts. In the last two games they have given up a goal within seconds of the first puck drop. Yesterday was 12 seconds into the game and tonight was a minute and a half into the game. Something needs to change with the Eagles’ mindset in the first few shifts of the game so they are not chasing the game from the start.
Kevin Mandolese went down with an injury late in the first period. Mandolese went down to block a shot but awkwardly got up after. The officials stopped the game for him to stretch out, which helped him finish the last minute and half of the period. Trent Miner came into the game at the start of the second period and Mandolese never returned to the bench.

Chase Bradley once again stood out tonight. He narrowly missed a shot on the third power play chance for the Eagles. Bradley was involved in a lot of the plays in the corners, consistently pressuring the Canucks. His play reminds me of a lot of players like Ondrej Pavel and Artturi Lehkonen.

Maros Jedlicka has been impressive in the short he has been with the Eagles. The Avalanche drafted Jedlicka in the 2023 NHL Draft but had to sit out last season because of a shoulder injury. So far this season he has played four games for the Eagles and has an assist in each of his last two games. Both assists set up the only goals in each game. Jedlicka also got credit for his first goal as they pulled their goalie on a delayed penalty and scored on themselves.
Jedlicka gets credited for a weird one! ABB pulls the goalie on a delayed penalty and the puck bounces off their own player into an empty net Jedlicka’s first AHL goal. #Avs #GoAvsGo #EaglesCountry @MileHighHockey pic.twitter.com/4xlbOaYqos
