Calle Rosén has a multi-goal game to help the Eagles secure a win in Tucson.
The Colorado Eagles are gaining some momentum, just like their NHL affiliate, the Colorado Avalanche. The Eagles are 6–2–1–1 in their last 10 games, winning three of their last five games. Last weekend the Eagles scored 10 goals in two games against the San Diego Gulls (ANA) en route to victory.
Nikita Prishchepov had his first professional hat trick in the opening game against the Gulls and has regularly stood out on the ice. Matt Stienburg continues to recover from his upper-body injury and will be out long term according to the team. Goaltender Kevin Mandolese suffered a lower-body injury against the Abbotsford Canucks on December 8, but did travel with the team on the road trip. This weekend Colorado takes on the Tucson Roadrunners (UTA) in a key Pacific Division battle. The Eagles headed into the game on Saturday night, trailing the Roadrunners by one point in the standings. Here are the takeaways from the 3–1 victory over Tucson.

Takeaways
Trent Miner looked fantastic in the opening frame for the Eagles. He stopped 32 shots on goal by the Roadrunners and was square to the puck in each play. Only one shot made it’s way past him, a breakaway shot that hit the post from Josh Doan. Miner saw a heavy workload in the third period with 14 shots on net and Tucson squeaked one by making the game interesting, but that was the only time they found the back of the net.

Prishchepov may have been playing on the third line, but he was in the action quite a bit. His aggressive forecheck led to a couple of chances in the second period for the Eagles. Now that he knows how to use his size, Prishchepov is making more use of lowering his shoulder and driving towards the net. In a ten second time frame in the second, Prishchepov had three shots on net (credited with only one) and was making the Roadrunner defense extremely nervous.

Calle Rosén scored two goals to secure the win for the Eagles. He can play in all situations for Colorado and head coach Aaron Schneekloth is not afraid to put him out. Rosén had several chances for the one timer shot and found the twine in the second period. He added the empty net goal to help secure the victory with about a minute left in the game.
Upcoming
The Eagles will be right back at it on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. against the Tucson Roadrunners at the Tucson Convention Center Arena in Tucson, Arizona.
