The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers don’t want you to believe it, but the 2024-25 season is just around the corner, and it’s time for the rumor mill to get going in advance of the new league year on July 1st. Ross Colton had a successful first season in Colorado, scoring 40 points in 80 games, but his $4M salary and No Trade Clause kicking in July 1 might force a move to free up some cap space.

The Colorado Avalanche revealed their as per usual six-game preseason slate but the new wrinkle is that two of those games are against Utah. Another interesting wrinkle is that the preseason finale with a game in Utah is at the Maverick Center, which is home of ECHL affiliate Utah Grizzlies. Hopefully, this means the regular season schedule is not far behind.
