Your daily dose of Avalanche news, along with other interesting storylines across the NHL.
When the Colorado Avalanche make a move to get their guy they usually settle a contract shortly thereafter. The trade for goaltender Kevin Mandolese was no exception as he inked his one-year deal the day after his acquisition. As a league minimum $775k two-way contract with a very low $150k guaranteed it seems like he’ll be vying for the Eagles backup job with Trent Miner who has signed a similar deal.

It flew under the radar because it was only a AHL signing with the Colorado Eagles but former captain Jayson Megna is back with the organization for the next two years.

As expected Calum Ritchie has been officially invited to Hockey Canada’s late July summer camp in preparation for the World Junior Championship to be held in Ottawa at the end of the year. Ritchie should have an inside track on not only a spot on the team but in a large role — that is if he doesn’t find a job in Colorado first.
Generals dynamic forward pair Sennecke and Ritchie have been invited to @HockeyCanada’s National Junior Team Summer Showcase!
