Twenty-eight NFL teams have reached the Super Bowl, but only 20 have won the Big Game. That leaves 12 clubs that have never won a Super Bowl. Here’s a quick recap of the full list.
1. Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta lost to the Broncos 34-19 in Super Bowl XXXIII and they fell to the Patriots 34-28 in Super Bowl LI (and that one was quite a heartbreaker).
2. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals won two NFL championships (1925 and 1947) when they were based in Chicago, but they’ve never won a Super Bowl. They came close in 2008, but they fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII.
3. Buffalo Bills

The Bills nearly had a dynasty in the 1990s, but they found a way to lose in four consecutive Super Bowl appearances. They won AFL championships in 1964 and 1965, but they’re still seeking a post-merger title.
4. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers lost to the Patriots 32-29 in Super Bowl XXXVIII, then lost to the Broncos 14 years later, 24-10, in Super Bowl 50.
5. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals reached the Super Bowl in 1981, 1988 and 2021, losing to the San Francisco 49ers (twice) and Los Angeles Rams.
6. Cleveland Browns

The Browns have won eight league championships (1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1954, 1955 and 1964), but John Elway prevented them from ever winning a Super Bowl. Cleveland lost to the Broncos three times in AFC Championship games in the 1980s.
7. Detroit Lions

(JULIAN H. GONZALEZ-USA TODAY NETWORK)
The Lions own four league championships (1935, 1952, 1953 and 1957), but they’re still hunting for their first Super Bowl appearance. They’ve had great regular seasons in each of the last two years but came up short in the playoffs.
8. Houston Texans

(Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports)
The Texans have never reached the Super Bowl, but they have made the playoffs eight times since 2011. If it’s any consolation to Houston fans, they’re the youngest team on this list (2002).
9. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags have made the playoffs eight times since entering the NFL in 1995, but they’ve never reached the Super Bowl. They most recently made the postseason in 2022.
10. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings won a league championship in 1969 but have lost all four of their Super Bowl appearances since the AFL-NFL merger. Since 1977, they’ve lost in six NFC title games, including two times with Randall Cunningham and once with Brett Favre.
11. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers won an AFL championship in 1963 but lost their lone Super Bowl appearance in 1994 when they were defeated by the 49ers by a score of 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX. Amazingly, they never made it far in the postseason when Drew Brees, Antonio Gates and LaDanian Tomlinson were all together in San Diego.
12. Tennessee Titans

Dating back to their Houston Oilers days, the Titans have won two league championships (1960 and 1961), but they lost their lone Super Bowl appearance in 1999, a 23-16 defeat to the St. Louis (now L.A.) Rams.
