For our second installment of our annual NFL Draft Roundtable discussions, I asked the Mile High Report staff who they want the Denver Broncos to pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Broncos Country—it’s officially NFL Draft Week and you know what that means. Our annual Mile High Report NFL Draft Roundtable discussions are back!
For the first installment, we discussed the biggest needs for the Denver Broncos to address in the 2025 NFL Draft. There was some variance of opinion, but the major takeaway from virtually all staff members is that the team needs to find playmakers on offense. In particular a top tier running back to get the offense to the next level. While some others felt that adding to the defensive line was just as important.
Luckily for the Broncos, this year’s draft has a tremendous amount of talent at the positions they need the most help at. If things fall their way, the board could look very promising for Denver with the twentieth selection.
Everyone across Broncos Country has a handful of players at the top of their wish list. But what is the prospect pulse for the staff at Mile High Report? For our second installment, that’s what I wanted to know and asked them “Who do you want the Denver Broncos to pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft?”
Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann
In order: Ashton Jeanty, Colston Loveland, and Omarion Hampton.
Adam Malnati
Every year I look for a linebacker that I hope the Broncos will draft. This year Scotty tells me that the guy to hope for is Carson Schwesinger.
Scotty Payne
Running backs Ashton Jeanty, Omarion Hampton and TreVeyon Henderson top my wish list. Colston Loveland at tight end, Emeka Egbuka and Tetairoa McMillian at wide receiver, or even Derrick Harmon or Kenneth Grant on the defensive line.
Taylor Kothe
I’m mainly excited that there should be several good options available almost no matter how the first 19 picks play out. If I had to pick one player, it would be Omarion Hampton since I think Jeanty will be gone. I’ve long been in the “first-round RB is terrible value” camp. However, I think we’re seeing a shift back toward some heavier rushing offenses across the league. Last season, running back was absolutely the flat tire keeping the Broncos’ offense from hitting its stride. I want to see that fixed.
Tim Lynch
I really like Ashton Jeanty, Colston Loveland, and Tetairoa McMillan. Outside that, I’ll just have to trust the process from Payton and Paton.

The Broncos should take the best running back still left which won’t be Jeanty.
Ian St. Clair
Hopefully one of the top running backs in the class is still available, say Hampton. If not running back, I’ll trust Payton and Paton.
Christopher Hart
It’s hard to know who will be available when the Broncos pick. Unfortunately, I think Jeanty, Hampton, Loveland, and McMillian will all be gone. You can throw Tyler Warren in there as well. I think there’s a good argument to be made the Top 5 offensive weapons will be off the board.
If that is the case, I’m still optimistic about who will be available. I’m a big fan of Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. In my first and only mock thus far last October, that’s who I had them selecting. Even though a lot of time has gone by, my evaluation on him hasn’t changed. I still view him as a Top 25 player in this year’s class and think he will be a very productive pro.
If the Broncos didn’t want to spend a first round pick on wide receiver, I hope they would consider Oregon defensive lineman Derrick Harmon. He would be a great addition to the defense and address a big need moving forward. Those would be two prospects I’d be extremely happy with Denver picking.
What do you think, Broncos Country?
