The top quarterback, running back, and wide receiver prospects will hit the field today to take part in the on-the-field drills at the Combine. Thankfully, the Broncos will not be all that concerned with the quarterback prospects after Bo Nix had an historic rookie year for the Broncos. They’ll be focusing on the running backs and the wide receivers, and seeing which players they can add to improve the Broncos offense moving forward.
I’ll be watching the running backs closely as it is a loaded group and we could see the Broncos select two during the draft in April. As for the receivers, I don’t think they’ll take one early but I wouldn’t rule one out later in the draft. It’s a fun group and we could see Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond says he will break Xavier Worthy’s Combine 40-yard dash record so we’ll see if he can do that today.
Once the players hit the field, they will have the opportunity to take part in multiple drills including the 40-yard dash. Coaches and scouts will track these numbers and help produce their profiles and rankings for these prospects. The on-the-field drills the players will participate in include the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill, 20-yard shuttle, and 60-yard shuttle.
