Despite the chatter of Bo Nix gaining steam as an Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate, the rookie quarterback is focused solely on preparing for the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football.
It doesn’t matter where you are picked in the NFL Draft, it’s how you perform on the field when the opportunity presents itself.
Despite being the sixth quarterback selected in this past draft; rookie Bo Nix has performed better just as good if not better than those selected before him. And wouldn’t you know it? Nix’s quality play is one of the major reasons the Denver Broncos sport a two-game lead for the final spot in the AFC’s playoff race.
Nix’s play as of late has earned him a lot of chatter in media circles about being one of, if not the front-runner for the National Football League’s covered Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. His main competition? Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels who has come back down to earth after a hot start while Nix continues to ascend on a weekly basis.
But the outside chatter doesn’t matter to the rookie quarterback. Only one thing is on his mind—doing whatever it takes to ensure the team gets a victory for whomever they play next on the schedule.
“Not really. All I can focus on is the next game—the next opponent. What I can do to win, what I can do to help the team win and right now it’s just executing. There’s always going to be the off-the-field things. It doesn’t matter if you don’t play well,” stated Nix.

“All I’m concerned about right now is the next opponent and that’s Cleveland. We just have to play well and continue to do the things that we’ve been doing the past couple of weeks leading up to this game.”
Even if Nix isn’t focused on what the analysts say, it’s still a most welcome breath of fresh air after eight seasons of a revolving door at the position. He is out there breaking records and earning honors that already have etched him into the franchise’s history books. With that in mind, it’s not hard to see why supporters of the orange and blue firmly believe Nix is deserving of the aforementioned accolade.
Earning the honor would be nice, but it’s also important to realize there is still a lot of room for growth and development. Nix is far from a finished product, but fans should feel inspired with his play to date. Moreover, be confident and stoked that the best football for him is yet to come.
Nevertheless, if he is able to help lead the team to victory over the Browns on Monday Night Football, I’d expect the chatter from the media and Broncos Country to heat up even more.
