The Denver Broncos reached the NFL playoffs for the first time since 2015 this season, but they crashed out of the postseason in the Wild Card round following a 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
After that game, Nix was asked what he learned from the experience to do differently the next time Denver reached the playoffs.
“The biggest thing is we can make all the hype we want about playoff football, but it’s just another game,” Nix said on Jan. 12. “It’s just another AFC game. I think in the future, you just treat it like another game, like it’s the next one on your schedule. You go out there and you play.
“There’s nothing different. There’s no special thing because it’s a playoff. It’s just a football game. That’s encouraging to know. We’ll handle it differently next time, hopefully.”
Nix publicly preached that it was just the “next game” leading up to the Buffalo game, but it seems that perhaps some of his teammates didn’t handle it that way. If they get back to the playoffs next year, Nix will undoubtedly see to it that players handle it better than they did this season.
