Bo Nix once again made a strong case to be the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Bo Nix is the frontrunner for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The Denver Broncos rookie quarterback had another two-touchdown outing vs. the Las Vegas Raiders where he passed for 273 yards and led the Broncos to victory once again. The team sits at 7-5 with a comfortable lead in the AFC postseason standings and Nix has a lot to do with that. Meanwhile, Jayden Daniels, who was widely viewed as the frontrunner had an up-and-down performance against the Cowboys and eventually lost the game to backup quarterback, Cooper Rush. Bo Nix and the Broncos are trending up while Jayden Daniels and the Commanders are trending down.

The stats don’t lie.
Nix now has a total of five games of 200+ pass yards and 2 touchdowns while Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams have five of those performances combined. Not only is Nix outpacing his rookie-class competition, but he is also on pace with some of the best quarterbacks in the league. Nix is tied with Ravens quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson with the league-lead of games with 200+ yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions with five.
Both the Broncos and Commanders currently sit at 7-5, but they got there in two very different ways. The Commanders started out hot and took the league by storm while the Broncos took their lumps early in the year before getting better each and every week.
The Broncos are a blocked field goal away from 8-4 but have won two straight games since and are 7-3 on the year after their 0-2 start to the year. During that time, we have seen Bo Nix grow from having some poor halftime stat lines to having multi-touchdown games in a row. He is getting more and more comfortable in Sean Payton’s offense, his confidence is building, and we continue to see growth from he and the Broncos each and every week.
Comparing Bo Nix to Jayden Daniels
Bo Nix: 259 for 399 for 2.548 yards, 16 passing touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 64.9 CMP%. 89.9 QB rating, 64 carries for 300 yards, 4 rushing touchdowns, and 1 reception for 2 yards and 1 touchdown. That is a total of 21 touchdowns for Bo Nix and 2,850 total yards from scrimmage.
Jayden Daniels: 227 for 332 for 2,613 yards, 12 passing touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 68.4 CMP%, 82.7 QB rating, 99 carries for 556 yards, and 5 rushing touchdowns. That is 17 total touchdowns with 3,169 total yards from scrimmage.
Daniels has the edge on Nix in total yards because of his rushing upside, but Nix has more passing yards, passing touchdowns, and a higher QB rating. The Broncos are trending in the right direction while the Commanders have lost three straight games and Daniels was just out-dueled by Cooper Rush.
Nix has looked like the better quarterback in recent weeks and I think that trend will continue as we progress through the final weeks of the season. I think he is and should be the front-runner for Offensive Rookie of the Year and if these trends continue, I think he will be awarded that honor.
