The team already announced the hiring of special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi earlier this offseason and he is among the eight new coaches joining Sean Payton’s staff. The one notable name in this announcement is former Broncos Super Bowl winning linebacker Todd Davis who will be joining the team as a Defensive Quality Control coach.
Denver also added Chris Morgan (Assistant Offensive Line), Evan Rothstein (Director of Game Management/OL Assistant), Todd Davis (Defensive Quality Control), Brian Niedermeyer (Defensive Quality Control), Marwan Maalouf (Assistant Special Teams), Zach Line (Special Teams Quality Control) and Taylor Porter (Assistant Strength & Conditioning) to its staff.
Chris Morgan, who served as the Chicago Bears offensive line coach/run game coordinator last season, will join the Broncos as the assistant offensive line coach. Marwan Maalouf last coached for the Minnesota Vikings back in 2019 through 2020 and served as their special teams coordinator. Now, he will replace Chris Banjo as the Broncos assistant special teams coordinator. Zach Line, a former NFL fullback who played for Sean Payton with the Saints, who has been a high school head coach, will join the Broncos as a Special Teams Quality Control coach.
The team also announced multiple promotions/job title changes to coaches who were on the 2024 coaching staff.
Several coaches also received title changes, including Zach Strief (Offensive Run Game Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach), Davis Webb (Offensive Pass Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks), Austin King (Tight Ends), Jim Leonhard (Defensive Pass Game Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach), Addison Lynch (Cornerbacks), Isaac Shewmaker (Linebackers) and Shaun Snee (Director of Strength & Conditioning)
Zach Strief has been the Broncos offensive line coach and helped the unit become one of the best in the league, now has the job title of Offensive Run Game Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach. Davis Webb, who has been the Broncos’ quarterbacks coach and helped with the development of Bo Nix, has been promoted to Offensive Pass Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach. He is an up-and-coming coach and will replace the role John Morton held last season, who left the Broncos this offseason to be the Lions offensive coordinator. Jim Leonhard, who will likely be a future defensive coordinator and head coach in the NFL now, has the title of Defensive Pass Game Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach.
Austin King, who has served as the Broncos’ assistant offensive line coach. will now be the Broncos tight ends coach and replace Declan Doyle who joined the Bears as their offensive coordinator. Addison Lynch will take over coaching the Broncos cornerbacks after serving as a quality control coach the past two seasons. He has spent time on the Lions, Raiders, and Chargers coaching staff in the past.
The Broncos moved on from two of their previous linebacker coaches this offseason and have replaced them with Isaac Shewmaker. He has been a quality control coach and now will coach the Broncos linebackers who figure to see a few faces join the team in the coming days.
