The NFL is returning to Brazil this fall and the Los Angeles Chargers were announced as the designated “home” team on Wednesday.
The Chargers will host a game at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season, the league announced. The game will be played on a the Friday following the NFL’s season opener on a Thursday.
L.A.’s home opponents next season are the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings.
That makes the Broncos a contender to play as the “road” team in Brazil this season. The Chargers’ opponent for the São Paulo game will be revealed when the full NFL scheduled is announced in the spring (likely in May).
Denver also has road games against the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts, who will “host” games in London and Berlin, respectively, this fall. So the Broncos are candidates for Brazil, England and Germany games in 2025.
The NFL is also expected to return to Mexico next season, and Denver might also be a candidate to play in that game. Stay tuned — the Broncos might have an international game announced in the coming months.
