Earlier this month, Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus published a list of potential landing spots for the NFL’s top free agent linebackers this spring.
Cameron has dubbed the Denver Broncos a potential destination for pending free agent Robert Spillane, who spent the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders.
“Investing in Spillane would be an instant upgrade to a Broncos defense that ranked 16th in team run-defense grade (67.6),” Cameron wrote on PFF’s website.
Cody Barton and Justin Strnad are both scheduled to become free agents and Alex Singleton will be coming off a torn ACL in 2025. So inside linebacker is certainly a key position of need for Denver (and that has been confirmed by coach Sean Payton).
Spillane (6-1, 229 pounds) is a 29-year-old linebacker who has spent time with three NFL teams. He started all 17 games in each of the last two seasons with the Raiders, totaling 306 tackles, 11 pass breakups, 5.5 sacks and five interceptions.
Cameron has two other notable linebackers — Nick
Bolton and Zack Baun — listed as potential candidates for the Raiders (Bolton), Tennessee Titans (Bolton) and Washington Commanders (Baun).
