The Broncos met with one of Bo Nix’s favorite targets at Oregon while at the Combine.
While at Oregon, tight end Terrance Ferguson was one of Bo Nix’s favorite targets. Now, the Broncos, the team Bo Nix quarterbacks held a formal interview with the explosive tight end. Could we see Ferguson reunite with his former teammate in Denver?
Colorado native and Heritage High School alum Terrance Ferguson grew up a Broncos fan. Then headed to Oregon, where he built “a great relationship” with Broncos QB Bo Nix.

Ferguson, who is a Colorado native, grew up a Broncos fan, played with Bo Nix while at Oregon and formed a great relationship with the quarterback. He told reporters at the Combine today that it would be “amazing” to reunite with his friend and former teammate in the NFL.
In 2023, Nix’s final season at Oregon, Ferguson totaled 42 receptions for 414 yards and had 6 touchdown receptions. His senior year was not what some hoped, but he still flashed the ability that made him one of Nix’s favorite targets during the 2023 season.
Ferguson is a 6’4”, 245 pound tight end and NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein calls him a productive pass catcher with good size.
Productive pass catcher with good size but an alarming lack of tenacity and fire when it’s time to run block. Ferguson saw adequate short-catch volume but was rarely asked to venture beyond the front yard as a route-runner. He has not shown enough technique or toughness to neutralize an NFL edge defender at the point of attack, but he can hit targets as a move blocker. Ferguson could improve in that area with additional coaching, but he might need to find the grit needed to compete against NFL tough guys as a run blocker to realize his full potential.
Sean Payton is looking for his ‘Joker’ and while Ferguson is not the most athletic tight end in the draft, he would give him a reliable pass catcher. His struggles as a run blocker could lower him on the Broncos board but he could be an option for the team in the third or fourth round of the draft.
I expect the Broncos to add at least one tight end in the draft, and it is possible that they could come away with Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson. It’s a loaded tight end group and Ferguson is one of the better prospects in the draft so we’ll see if he will reunite with Bo Nix in Denver.
