Let’s just say this would be unexpected.
Last month, Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy released a two-round 2025 NFL mock draft with a curious selection for the Denver Broncos.
In the first round of his mock, Popejoy has the Broncos picking Penn State tight end Tyler Warren at No. 20. That’s not the surprising pick. In fact, Warren would be a dream pick for Denver.
It’s in the second round where things get interesting. At pick No. 51, the Broncos select LSU right tackle Emery Jones. That would be a shock.
Jones (6-5, 312 pounds) is a two-time All-SEC lineman and a promising prospect, but it’s hard to imagine Denver using a second-round pick on an offensive tackle when the team has more pressing needs on the roster.
Garett Bolles, the team’s left tackle, is signed through the 2028 season. Mike McGlinchey, their right tackle, is signed through the 2027 campaign.
The Broncos could certainly use a developmental tackle to add more depth at the position, but they seem unlikely to use a second-round pick on a lineman who is not in line to start right away. If Denver drafts an offensive tackle in April, it would likely be in the mid-to-late rounds — not early in the draft.
