It’s safe to say the Denver Broncos will definitely add to the quarterback room this spring.
With the NFL’s free agency period less than three weeks away, the Broncos only have one quarterback — starter Bo Nix — signed for the 2025 season.
Both of Denver’s backup quarterbacks — Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson — are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents on March 12. Other NFL teams can begin negotiating with Stidham and Wilson on March 10.
It’s possible that the Broncos might attempt to re-sign one or both of Stidham and Wilson, but it’s unlikely that both will remain in Denver this year. Wilson is still only 25 years old and he might be intrigued by the possibility of going to compete for a starting job elsewhere.
Because he is younger than Stidham (28) and has more upside, Wilson might also draw more interest (and a higher salary) than his counterpart on the open market. That seemingly makes Stidham more likely to remain with the Broncos, but he might also draw interest from other clubs.
Expect changes to the QB room this offseason. Denver will likely have to bring in at least one new backup, and the team might need to add two.
