Taylor was signed to the Broncos practice squad last November and could end up there again in 2024.
Reese Taylor is a fascinating player for the Denver Broncos.
Now a cornerback, Taylor played quarterback in high school. In his senior year at Ben Davis High, he was Indiana’s Mr. Football. Taylor didn’t move to cornerback until the 2019 season at Indiana.
After spending the last part of the 2023 regular season on the Broncos practice squad, Taylor will try to use that to his advantage this season.

Cornerback Reese Taylor’s 2024 outlook
Taylor was an undrafted free agent from Purdue who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. He transferred from Indiana to Purdue prior to his senior season.
With the Cheifs, Taylor played in three preseason games last year. He registered six tackles and a quarterback hit on 65 snaps played. Denver signed Taylor to its practice squad in early November, where he spent the rest of the season.
In his senior season with the Boilermakers, Taylor started in 13 of their 14 games. He totaled 34 tackles, four passes defended and one interception.
Here’s what Lance Zierlein said about Taylor in his NFL Draft profile:
“Despite his experience playing on the perimeter, Taylor will likely need to move inside, where his lack of size/length won’t be as easily exploitable. He’s a better tester than player right now, as his timed speed doesn’t always match up with his game speed when it comes to making up distance on targets. He ends up making plays on receivers rather than throws, and that must change if he’s going to have a chance to land on an NFL roster. His special teams experience helps, but he might not be dynamic enough to make up for inconsistent cover talent.”
For the testing Zierlein mentioned, Taylor apparently grabbed the attention of NFL scouts at Purdue’s Pro Day. He clocked a 4.46 in the 40, but his 4.07 short shuttle and 6.63 three-cone drills caught people’s attention. Bolts from the Blue also noted Taylor’s 38.5” vertical jump.
Needless to say, Taylor is incredibly athletic.
Final thoughts
As is the case with young players like Taylor, special teams are their route to the roster. His experience there could give him a leg up on the players he’s competing against.
Taylor was also on the Broncos practice squad. He knows the coaches and what they’re looking for, as well as what he needs to do to improve.
If Tayor sticks with Denver in 2024, it’ll likely be on the practice squad.
