Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered last September, but there is hope of a full recovery.
As noted last month, Hamler is in the advanced stages of his recovery. ACL recovery time is usually nine months to a year, but if we let Hamler tell it, he’s recovering so quickly that he sometimes has to calm down not to overdo it.
“I’m well ahead of schedule,” Hamler said last week. “Some days they have to ramp me down a little bit and tell me to calm down so nothing flares up. I’m playing it smart and progressing every day.”
He’s feeling good, but not overdoing it: “I’m in a good spot. Sometimes they hold me back with just to play it safe and be on the safe side.”
And although Hamler knows his body, he still respects the medical staff’s advice and wants to be smart.
“[I want to] be smart with every decision I make,” he said. “I just listen to the trainers and the strength staff. I take advice from them. They know more than I do, so I’m just taking it day-by-day. I’m in a good spot.”
Two weeks ago, teammate Jerry Jeudy noted the progress Hamler has made.
“KJ has progressed a lot with coming out there, running routes, getting back stronger and getting back healthier,” Jeudy said. “I feel like he’s been doing what he needs to do to get back to where he needs to be.”
Hamler aims to be a great deep threat for Russell Wilson this season and his health will be a big factor for Denver’s offense.
