Ciara Reacts To The Denver Broncos Cutting Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson’s release by the Denver Broncos yesterday was shocking if not entirely surprising. But he has no shortage of support around him as he heads into free agency and his wife Ciara is leading the way.

After being released by the Broncos yesterday, Wilson took to Instagram and left a thank you letter to the team for the good times that he enjoyed in Denver during his two years there.

Among the first to offer support to Wilson in the comments was Ciara, who posted a loving reply of her own to her husband:

“One of One! My greatest inspiration! I love you,” Ciara wrote on Instagram.

Wilson was released just two years after joining the Broncos in a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks. His former team received two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick and three players as part of the deal, while Wilson cashed in with a massive $245 million contract extension.

However, things quickly went awry in Denver, struggling mightily under first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett and the team went just 5-12 that season.

The team made a big splash at head coach in the 2023 offseason, hiring Super Bowl winner Sean Payton to run the show. But things only marginally improved, starting the season 1-5 while giving up a whopping 70 points to the Miami Dolphins.

A five-game winning streak in October and November helped get the team above .500 briefly, but they collapsed at the end of the season and missed the playoffs.

It’s the end of an error for the Broncos.
