Russell Wilson isn’t the only one with an unclear future right now. The Denver Broncos now have to figure out who’s going to be their short-term and long-term replacement at quarterback. But Colin Cowherd believes he has the answer.
On Wednesday’s edition of The Herd, Cowherd made the case that the Broncos should draft Bo Nix in the 2024 NFL Draft. He believes that the Oregon quarterback and Heisman Trophy runner-up is “ready to win now” and can give head coach Sean Payton some much-needed wins to boost his credibility in Denver.
“Sean Payton needs to win now. He’s not here to teach… Bo Nix has 61 starts (from) Auburn and Oregon. His ceiling may be lower, but his floor is higher. Payton wants a quarterback who follows his play design. That’s exactly what Oregon did with Bo Nix… He (Nix) is ready to win now,” Cowherd said.
The Broncos hold the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Though depending on if there’s a run on quarterbacks in the top 10, they might have to trade up to get him or risk losing him.
But Nix is a polarizing prospect and not many people believe that Nix’s significant years of college football playing experience will translate into a successful career.
Some believe he’s a top 10 prospect while others believe he doesn’t even belong in the first or second round.
Someone will draft and develop him. But as Cowherd said in his segment: “Where you go matters.”
