Rookie outside linebacker Jonah Elliss earned All-Rookie Team honors from the Pro Football Writers Association.
The Denver Broncos accomplished a lot during their 2024 campaign. One of the highlights of the season was their fearsome pass rush. Spearheaded by veterans Nik Bonitto (13.5 sacks) and Jonathon Cooper (10.5 sacks), the defense notched a franchise and NFL best 63 sacks over the course of the year. In fact, they were the only team in the league to have six players get five sacks or more.
One of the other players who helped contribute to the defense’s success in that regard was third-round pick and former Utah Ute Jonah Ellis. Earlier today, the Pro Football Writers Association revealed their list of 27 players who made their All-Rookie team for the 2024 season. He was the only Broncos rookie to make the team.
Pick No. 76.

Over the course of his stellar rookie season, Ellis played in all 17 regular season games and saw 434 defensive snaps (38-percent) and 257 special teams snaps (54-percent). He outpaced and outproduced a handful of players selected ahead of him in the 2024 NFL Draft. He racked up 38 tackles, 7 of them for loss, and 6 quarterback hits. Elliss’ five sacks ranked third amongst all rookies, placing him in a tie with teammate Deondra Tillman who also had a productive rookie season.
In their AFC Wild Card loss to the Buffalo Bills, Ellis suffered a fractured scapula. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the Broncos’ offseason programs. Let’s take a moment to congratulate Elliss on earning the honor. I have no doubts that he will improve and do better with an increased role next season.
