The Denver Broncos found a dude in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Devaughn Vele outperformed all other wide receivers drafted after the second round last year.
The Denver Broncos are finding diamonds in the NFL Draft rough and that has helped them break their playoff drought. One player that helped that run was rookie wide receiver Devaughn Vele. No other rookie wide receiver drafted after the second round put up more yards and receptions than the seventh round pick.
While Vele did hit a rookie wall down the stretch, he finished strong with two of his three touchdowns in the final four weeks. Overall he logged 41 receptions for 475 yards and three touchdowns. 26 of his 41 catches went for first down.

That’s an outstanding season for a late-round rookie. Those guys usually don’t even get a shot to secure significant playing time. I like Vele and think he’ll continue to be a solid role player at the position and contribute enough to stay relevant next season.
Denver needs to keep having these kinds of draft classes if they are going to snowball into an AFC contender under Bo Nix. I can’t wait to see what they do come April in the 2025 NFL Draft.
