It’s widely believed that Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has played his final down for Sean Payton and the Broncos. But ESPN’s Dan Graziano has a bolder prediction for what his future actually holds.
On Friday’s edition of Get Up, Graziano along with analysts Bart Scott and Mike Tannenbaum discussed whether Wilson might just skip playing in 2024 since he’s due to make $39 million on his contract with the Broncos.
But while Tannenbaum argued that Wilson wants his legacy to be great too much to sit out a year, Graziano said that there’s “a possibility” that Wilson will be joining them on the set of the show rather than playing in the NFL.
“I still think there’s a possibility that come September, he is in fact sitting right there (on Get Up),” Graziano said, via Awful Announcing.
The other members were taken a little aback by Graziano’s prediction, but nearly all of them acknowledged the possibility that Wilson might not have a starting job in 2024.
2023 was one of Russell Wilson’s worst seasons. He averaged just over 200 passing yards per game – his lowest since his rookie season – and didn’t have back-to-back wins until an inexplicable five-game winning streak in the middle of the season that wound up being far too late to save the Broncos’ season.
Wilson was a healthy scratch at the end of the season – a move that was explicitly made in order to keep him healthy enough to release without having to guarantee his entire salary.
What will Wilson do in 2024?
