The Denver Broncos continue to do their pre-draft diligence by bringing in highly touted Ole Miss defensive lineman Walter Nolen for a Top 30 visit.
Good morning, Broncos Country.
In just one week, the 2025 NFL Draft will kick off in Green Bay, Wisconsin. That still gives the Denver Broncos some time to finish their draft evaluations and finalize their board.
As the draft approaches, the Broncos continue their pursuit of leaving no stone unturned when it comes to evaluating this year’s class of prospects. According to longtime insider Mike Klis, the Broncos recently hosted Ole Miss defensive lineman Walter Nolen for a Top 30 visit. He is the most recent prospect at the position to get a further look inside team headquarters at Dove Valley.
After spending his first two years at Texas A&M, Nolen transferred to Ole Miss for his junior season and earned AP All-American and First-Team All-SEC honors after registering 48 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. According to most analysts and outlets, he is one of the top defensive linemen in this year’s class and expected to come off the board somewhere in the first round.
Conventional wisdom would have the franchise looking to upgrade their offense in the first round—in particular running back—in order to surround Bo Nix with more weapons and raise the unit’s efficiency and production in 2025.
However, defensive line is also a critical need for the franchise moving forward. One can’t forget to mention that Zach Allen, Malcolm Jones, and John Franklin-Myers all in the final years of their contracts. Fortifying the defensive trenches for long haul would be a smart decision for the team.
Adding a player like Nolen would give them another top-notch pass rusher for opposing teams to have to gameplan against. It’s fun to imagine defense that led the National Football League and set a franchise record with 63 sacks in 2024 having him in the rotation. Opposing offensive coordinators and offensive line coaches might have nightmares trying to gameplan against that.
What do you think, Broncos Country? How would you feel if Nolen was the Broncos’ first-round pick? If they don’t go for an offensive player, he would definitely be one of the best defensive prospects to consider. Let me know if you agree or disagree in the comments section.
As always, thank you for reading. Here is today’s slate of articles for Horse Tracks.
