In a recent appears on Up & Adams, Terron Armstead told Kay Adams that Denver Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton is recruiting him to join his staff.
Good morning, Broncos Country.
The 2025 NFL Draft is just a few weeks away. Our coverage has predominantly focused on that over the past month, but I thought I’d opt to use today’s installment of Horse Tracks to address some other interesting Denver Broncos news that hit the airwaves yesterday.
On an appearance on Up & Adams with Kay Adams, recently retired offensive tackle Terron Armstead shared some interesting news. According to Armstead, Head Coach Sean Payton congratulated him on his retirement. But not only that, but Payton also floated the idea of him joining the Broncos’ staff for the coming season.
“He called me yesterday and he wants me to work with him or for him in whatever capacity. So, we have to have another conversation,” stated Armstead.

The New Orleans Saints headed by Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton drafted Armstead in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played there for nine seasons before finishing out his career the past three seasons with the Miami Dolphins. Over the course of his stellar 12-year career in the National Football League, he was a five-time Pro-Bowl honoree and one-time All-Pro and some consider him to be one of the best left tackles of his era.
Zach Strief, who played alongside Armstead in New Orleans under Payton, was recently promoted from the Broncos’ Offensive Line Coach to an Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Run Game Coordinator earlier this offseason. Though he stated there wasn’t a specific title offered, it’s safe to say he would be working with the team to help with their offensive line—a unit that performed quite well in 2024.
There is no doubt the Broncos have put together a quality coaching staff the past few years with Payton at the helm. While I’m confident in the core of coaches that are already in the fold, Armstead heading to the Mile High City would be a tremendous development for the franchise and certainly help with their ability to develop the players they have and may add in this year’s draft.
What do you think, Broncos Country? Would you be excited about Armstead joining the staff? Let me know in the comments section.
As always, thank you for reading. Here is today’s slate of articles for Horse Tracks.
