The Denver Broncos have an extremely late bye week which is going to help them get healthy and tune themselves up for a playoff run
The Denver Broncos weirdly have a week 14 bye week. I dug up the past 10 years of schedules and the latest the Broncos have taken a bye in that time frame is week 11.
This year, the timing seems really fortunate in all honesty. Though the teams don’t get a say on when their bye weeks fall, this can be such a great advantage for a scrappy team trying to finish a push to the playoffs.
This gives the players a chance to get healthy. This also gives an opportunity for players like Drew Sanders who have missed time to get worked into the rotation with fewer question marks given the extra work they will be able to get in.
I imagine that both sides of the ball will also have a little breathing room that will allow them to shore up their schemes and add some wrinkles to the playbook for their upcoming opponents.
There’s a lot of football left to be played. The Broncos likely need to win 3 of their last 5 games in order to go to the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade. Having a bye week coming up may be just the edge they need to get over the hump and back into the post season.
