Sean Payton and George Paton start the cycle of a new NFL season answering questions leading up to the draft.
Everyone is back to 0 – 0 in the NFL, and the Broncos are kicking off their start for the 2025 season.
Here’s what I learned from the pre-draft press conference with both Sean Payton and George Paton:
- The Denver media and Sean Payton are super interested in coaching changes. Why talk about the draft prospects when we could talk about coaches, am I right!?
- In case you haven’t heard, the buzzword for the Broncos in 2025 is “Joker.” Watch a couple of press conferences with Sean Payton. You, too, will be sick of hearing it. What was so wrong with the word “mismatch?”
- Bo Nix had a surgery, but no big deal…pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
- Of course there’s a good chance the Broncos bring back Javonte Williams…didn’t you know he’s one of the best pass blockers at running back in the NFL!?
- The team is in talks with Courtland Sutton’s agent about an extension.
I honestly appreciate how locked-down the Sean Payton regime has been in dealing with the media. The franchise can no longer be read like a book heading into the draft. Strategically this is an advantage.
Sadly, it makes many of the team’s press conferences far more uninteresting. I think the mention of Javonte Williams and Courtland Sutton are the most interesting. Does it mean anything? Will the Broncos now that they have cap space use it on a veteran #2 WR and a running back that can’t run well, but is a great blocker?
