Deebo Samuel has requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers and many fans and pundits — including Robert Griffin III — have linked the talented wide receiver to the Denver Broncos.
Not everyone thinks it would be a good idea.
Former Broncos cornerback Chris Harris took to Twitter/X earlier this week to chime in with this: “Deebo to Denver makes zero sense when we already have Mims .”
Marvin Mims Jr. has made the Pro Bowl and earned All-Pro nods in each of the last two seasons as one of the NFL’s top returners. He also plays wide receiver and even got snaps at running back for the Broncos last fall.
The receiver’s father, Marvin Mims Sr., appreciated the support from CHJR:

Mims also received an endorsement from former running back Phillip Lindsay, which also drew a response from the elder Mims:

Some pundits have suggested that Samuel would be an upgrade over Mims, but there seems to be a general consensus that the team does not need to trade for Samuel.
Marvin Mims is better, younger, faster, more versatile, less injury prone, not a diva. Pass on Deeva I mean Deebo Samuel. pic.twitter.com/ChrwkE8nK1

Samuel will turn 30 years old on Saturday and his salary cap hit will be just over $15.86 million in 2025. It’s hard to imagine the Broncos spending draft capital on an aging receiver with that kind of contract.
