The NFLPA is not happy with the Denver Broncos with regards to the Russell Wilson situation.
The PA believes that Wilson was “mistreated” by the Broncos after he was benched at the end of the 2023 season.
“We believe that our member was in the right and was being mistreated,” Executive Director Lloyd Howell told The Washington Post, (first transcribed by CBS Sports). “And so whether it’s coming from Jeffrey [Kessler, an NFLPA attorney,] or other efforts that may not have been as visible, we support our player and how they should be treated, be it financially or in any other manner.”
The NFLPA issued a letter on Nov. 4 and told the Broncos and NFL management that their threat to bench Wilson was against the CBA.
Head coach Sean Payton still went through with the decision anyway because Wilson sat out the team’s final two games after they were effectively eliminated from playoff contention by the New England Patriots on Dec. 24.
It was later reported that Wilson’s time with the Broncos is likely over since he expects to be released before the new league year in March.
Let’s see if anything else comes of the PA being upset with the Broncos.
