The Broncos are the current odds on favorites to sign wide receiver Tee Higgins if he hits the free agent market.
According to SportsBetting.ag, the Denver Broncos are the current odds-on favorites to sign wide receiver Tee Higgins if he hits the free agent market. They have them at +300 with the Commanders at +400 followed by the Steelers at +400.
Where will Tee Higgins play this season (if not CIN)?
Denver Broncos (+300)
Washington Commanders (+400)
Pittsburgh Steelers (+500)
Los Angeles Chargers (+600)
New England Patriots (+700)
Tennessee Titans (+900)
Buffalo Bills (10/1)
San Francisco 49ers (14/1)
Dallas Cowboys…— Jaime Eisner (@JaimeEisner) February 12, 2025
Tee Higgins, if he hits free agency, would be the top offensive playmaker available and should interest teams like the Broncos, Commanders, and Steelers who all could use some help at receiver. There is a chance the Bengals could either re-sign him or place the franchise tag on him, but they are a franchise not known for opening the checkbook and have other needs to address. So, it remains to be seen if Higgins will indeed hit the free-agent market.
He is coming off a year where he played in 12 games where he totaled 73 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdown receptions. He did this as the number two option in the explosive Bengals passing attack, which included Ja’Marr Chase. Ironically, his best performance of the year came against the Broncos. In a must-win game for both teams, Higgins abused the Broncos and returning cornerback Riley Moss. In that game, he totaled 11 receptions for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns. During his career, Higgins has totaled 330 receptions for 4,595 yards and 34 receiving touchdowns.
During Super Bowl week, head coach Sean Payton did throw some cold water on them acquiring a top wide receiver this offseason. He told Kay Adams that the Broncos are stronger at wide receiver than some may think and repeated that the team needs a ‘Joker’ (RB/TE) while receiver is more of a “need than want”. The team does have young wide receivers in Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin while older rookie Devaughn Vele flashed some potential as well.
Now, Sean Payton has proven he can be a liar/misleader so it is difficult to take anything he says during the offseason as 100% fact. With that said, the Broncos do need help at tight end and running back while also having needs on the defensive side of the ball. Spending a considerable amount of money on a wide receiver would not make the most sense, especially with Courtland Sutton on the team.
Would I welcome Higgins if signed? Hell yeah, but I am skeptical that they go that route this offseason. These odds are interesting even though I am not sure how much merit they have currently, but interesting nonetheless during a slow and boring time of the offseason.
