After serving as the coordinator of one of the best defenses in the NFL this season, Denver Broncos coach Vance Joseph is now a candidate for multiple head coach openings.
Broncos star cornerback Pat Surtain would not prefer to lose Joseph, but he said earlier this week that the coach is a deserving candidate for a promotion.
“He’s very deserving,” Surtain said of Joseph potentially becoming a head coach again, via DNVR’s Zac Stevens. “His resume speaks for itself. He’s the ultimate players coach.
“Whatever team he goes to, the players sort of gel and buy into his standard. … He’s such a great coach and he gets it. He’s done this at a high level each and every year. So the opportunities that he has is very well-deserved.”

Joseph, 52, led a defense that ranked third in points allowed per game (18.3) and first in sacks (63, a franchise record) this season. If Denver does lose Joseph in 2025, the team would receive a pair of third-round compensatory draft picks. Joseph will be a name to watch as clubs begin filling their HC openings.
