Just two games remain in the Denver Broncos’ 2024 campaign. Saturday is the first of two chances they will have to punch their ticket to the postseason. Can the team give Broncos Country the gift they all have been hoping for?
Good morning, Broncos Country.
I hope you have all enjoyed the holiday season thus far. While Christmas Eve and Christmas Day has passed, the New Year is ahead of us. That means there is still time to make some Mile High Magic happen.
I’m sure a lot of you received some wonderful gifts, but would I be correct in guessing something is still missing from that stocking of yours? That’d be a statement ‘W’ — the best gift the Denver Broncos can deliver with a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.

Sure, the Broncos still have another shot to get in during Week 18. The Kansas City Chiefs beat down the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday and will likely rest their starters next week. That maybe makes things easier at home in Denver next weekend. But I’ve never been one for patience. It’s likely safe to say all of Broncos Country prefers they take care of business this Saturday.
It won’t be an easy task, but these Broncos can get the job done. They’ll just have to play a complete game on both sides of the ball. The Bengals’ offense is led by Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. Without question, they’ve been the most explosive passing/receiving duo in the NFL this season.
Thankfully, it appears Riley Moss will be back in the fold and the last time Chase went up against Patrick Surtain II, Surtain shut him down. Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph has a tough task building a gameplan to limit their aerial attack. Though with both of his star corners ready to play, I’m confident he can concoct a formula that will help lead the Broncos to victory.
On offense, we need to see a lot more consistency with respect to play calling and execution. The Bengals’ defense has been poor most all season. They are bottom ten against the run and the pass. Not only that, but they have also given up the fifth most points in the league.
With that in mind, there isn’t a lot of room for excuses Head Coach Sean Payton in this one. He has a year’s worth of tape on their defense to see what they aren’t good at and come up with a good gameplan. May I add a suggestion? Keep sprinkling more motion into the play calling—some of the best plays the past few weeks utilized it.
Feel free to sound off in the comments section about the game and what you think the Broncos have to do to win. As always—thank you for reading. Here is today’s slate of articles for Horse Tracks.
