12-year veteran quarterback Russell Wilson signed a new contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and one-time Super Bowl champion, spent the 2023 season with the Denver Broncos but has also played for the Seattle Seahawks.

Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers, Agree to Contract
After a disastrous first season with the Denver Broncos, Wilson showed some signs of life in the second year of his massive contract. Starting in 15 games, the quarterback completed 66.4% of his passes for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. While he wasn’t as good as he was during his time with the Seahawks, the former third-round pick was a league-average starter last year. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to save his job, as Denver took a record-setting $85 million in dead cap to move on from the veteran.
Russell Wilson originally entered the league as a third-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Selected by the Seattle Seahawks, the North Carolina State product was supposed to spend his rookie season playing behind free agent signee Matt Flynn. However, Wilson was too good to keep on the bench and won the Week 1 job. Seattle’s decision to trust their rookie was a wise one, as Wilson helped guide the team to the NFC Divisional Round.
Wilson built upon this promising campaign to establish himself as one of the game’s best passers in 2013. Playing on one of the most well-rounded rosters in recent memory, the quarterback completed 63.1% of his passes for 3,357 yards, 26 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Seattle won the Super Bowl in dominant fashion over Peyton Manning’s Denver Broncos, and while the defense stole the show, they wouldn’t have been in that situation without Wilson.
Wilson spent the rest of the decade playing like a top-10 quarterback with Seattle. Since signing his rookie contract, the quarterback has completed 64.7% of his passes for 43,653 yards, 334 touchdowns, and 106 interceptions.
