Golden is one of the top wide receiver prospects in the draft and will meet with the Broncos who hold the 20th overall selection in the draft.
According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos will host Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden on a pre-draft top-30 visit today. The productive wide receiver is widely viewed as a lock to be a first-round pick and could be in play for the Broncos at 20.
Besides RB, Broncos must be considering WRs for their No. 20 pick.
They are scheduled to meet with speedy Texas WR Matthew Golden today on 30 visit per source. Golden making the rounds.

First, a reminder or refresher on what exactly a top 30 visit is. Each NFL team in the days and weeks before the start of the NFL Draft is allowed to invite up to 30 different prospects to come in for what amounts to a job interview. From there, they will work them out, show them the facility, meet with coaches, and essentially have a job interview. It is just another step in the long scouting process leading up to the NFL Draft.
Golden is a 5’11”, 191-pound wide receiver who is considered one of the top pass-catchers in the entire draft. The Athletic’s lead draft analyst, Dane Brugler, has Golden ranked as his 15th overall player in the 2025 NFL Draft and grades him as his second-best wide receiver.
Golden played a total of two seasons at the University of Houston before transferring to Texas, where he had a breakout year for the Longhorns. During his three-year career between both schools, Golden totaled 134 receptions for 1,975 yards and 22 touchdowns. This past year for Texas, he totaled 58 receptions for 987 yards and 9 touchdown receptions.
Brugler praises Golden’s route running and his ability to play inside or out and believes he can become a go-to target in the passing game for whoever drafts him.
Fluid in and out of his breaks, Golden shows a plan as a route runner — I love his ability to break down corners by keeping his eyes, hips and feet in sync. That coordination also translates to the catch point with his very natural ball skills to track, frame and finish. Overall, it might bother some teams that he doesn’t have better size, but Golden also doesn’t have any glaring flaws to his game that would keep him from becoming a productive pro. He can play inside or outside and become the go-to target for an NFL offense.
Golden would give the Broncos another threat in the passing game who is a crisp route runner and ran in the 4.2’s at the Combine. His game speed does not scream a 4.2 player, but you cannot deny the athleticism.
The Broncos have now brought in Missouri’s Luther Burden III and Matthew Golden in for top-30 visits so it’ll be interesting to see if the Broncos do indeed go receiver early in the draft. Courtland Sutton is in the final year of his deal and has a trio of young/inexperienced receivers behind him in Marvin Mims, Devaughn Vele, and Troy Franklin. We’ll see if the Broncos decide to add to that room in the draft.
Currently, the Broncos hold the 20th overall selection in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and while all eyes are on running back, it appears we cannot rule out a receiver with their first-round pick.
