According to DNVR’s Zac Stevens, the Denver Broncos have re-signed standout special teams player and linebacker Justin Strnad to a one-year, $2.7 million dollar deal.

The Broncos beefed up their special teams last night when they signed veteran special teamer Trent Sherfield and they continue to add to that group today. Strnad has been a key special teamer for the Broncos since joining the team and also provides some depth at the linebacker position.
Last season for the Broncos, his role grew after linebacker Alex Singleton went down with an ACL injury. He would appear in all 17 games, including 8 starts, and totaled 73 tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, and 3 pass deflections. He did struggle in coverage and as a run defender at times, but he proved he can be a reliable spot starter if needed while being your special teams ace.
The Broncos linebacker room looks a bit deeper than it did at the start of free agency. The team signed All-Pro linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who should significantly improve that unit. They’re getting Alex Singleton back from an ACL injury and are now bringing back Justin Strnad. Behind those three veterans you have former third round pick Drew Sanders and undrafted free agent Levelle Bailey. They still have questions at this position, especially with their health, but it’s looking much better than it did at the start of legal tampering.
I like the re-signing of Strnad as a special teamer and depth signing. I do not want him being a full-time starter, but if he can provide some depth while also being a high-end special teamer, I am good with that.
