Ja’Quan McMillian, Dondrea Tillman, Lucas Krull, Jordan Jackson, and Devon Key all received their exclusive rights free agent tenders by the Broncos.
According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos have tendered all five of their exclusive rights free agents. This includes cornerback Ja’Quan McMillan, edge rusher Dondrea Tillman, tight end Lucas Krull, safety Devon Key and defensive linemen Jordan Jackson.
CB Ja’Quan McMillian, safety Devon Key and DL Jordan Jackson also received their exclusive rights free agent tenders, per source.
So all 5 Broncos ERFAs tendered (Krull, Tillman also) as expected.— MikeKlis9NEWS (@mikeklis9news) March 5, 2025
An exclusive rights free agent is a player with two or fewer accrued seasons and an expired contract. This contrasts a restricted free agent (three accrued seasons) or an unrestricted free agent (four or more accrued seasons).
The notable name here is cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian who is the Broncos starting slot corner. They’ll have him under contract at a very reasonable deal but he could be a candidate for an extension. He’ll be entering his third year as the Broncos starting slot corner and will be making the minimum, so that’ll be something to watch moving forward.
Tillman joined the Broncos late in the offseason after being a standout player in the United Football League and became a valuable rotational player for Vance Joseph’s defense. He finished the season with five sacks and moved up the depth chart as one of the Broncos’ key rotational edge rushers. He’ll fill the same role this upcoming season along with Jonah Elliss behind starters Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper.
Lucas Krull led all the Broncos in receptions this past year with 19, but even with him being brought back, his roster spot will be in danger. The Broncos are expected to add to the tight end room this offseason, and we could see a tight end added early in the draft. Sean Payton is looking for his ‘Joker’, a position Krull profiles at so we’ll see how he shakes out after free agency and the draft.
As for Devon Key and Jordan Jackson, both are depth players and will serve that again moving forward, but neither is guaranteed a roster spot this upcoming season. The Broncos figure to add at both safety and defensive line this offseason, which could leave both fighting for a roster spot throughout the offseason and into training camp and the preseason.
These are just the first of many roster moves the Broncos will make in the coming days and weeks. The “Legal Tampering Period” is less than a week away so we could see more re-signings along with some releases and potentially trades in the coming days before the Broncos can start signing new players.
