Despite rumors connecting the two, it appears the Broncos do not have interest in veteran WR Deebo Samuel.
According to the Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson, indications are that the Broncos do not have interest in San Francisco 49ers veteran wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

49ers General Manager John Lynch told reporters today they’re going to honor Samuel’s desire for a fresh start elsewhere, but it appears that won’t be on the Broncos. When news first broke that Deebo wanted to be traded, the Broncos were widely tossed around as a logical landing spot. However, that does not appear to be the case.
The Broncos seem focused on reaching an extension with veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton at the Combine instead of trading for another pricy veteran wide receiver. On top of that, the Broncos already have Marvin Mims Jr. who plays a similar role as Samuel on the roster who is coming off a breakout second half of the season. He earned his second straight Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors are a returner and now appears to be developing as a playmaker.
Meanwhile, Deebo’s best days appear to be behind him as he has struggled with injuries and has declined in recent years. Trading assets and taking on his contract never made much sense for the Broncos currently. If he were to be released, then maybe we can revisit this conversation, but I am okay moving forward without adding Deebo Samuel.
It remains to be seen what the Broncos do at the wide receiver position. It appears they want to keep veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton around for the long term which makes sense. Then you have young receivers Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin who both could be taking that next step next season for the Broncos. Former seventh-round pick Devaughn Vele flashed potential last season and could see his role increase even more next season. So, we could see minimal additions to the Broncos receiver room outside of a veteran addition.
As for the Deebo Samuel to the Broncos rumors, they appear dead for now.
