The Denver Broncos are unlikely to trade for New Orleans Saints do-everything player Taysom Hill. He’ll turn 35 years old this summer and his salary cap hit will fall just short of $18 million in 2025.
There’s no way the Broncos would trade draft capital for an aging player coming off an injury with that kind of contract. If the Saints decide to cut Hill, though, Denver would be an obvious potential landing spot.
And it sounds like cutting Hill might be exactly what New Orleans plans to do. Last week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said it’s “hard to imagine” Hill returning to the Saints for the 2025 campaign.
If it’s designated as a post-June 1 release, Hill’s departure would save New Orleans $10 million in salary cap space this season.
If and when Hill becomes available, the Broncos will be a team to watch. Sean Payton discovered Hill on the NFL’s waiver wire in 2017 and the quarterback/tight end/special teams ace quickly became a fan favorite. If his time with the Saints is coming to an end, perhaps a reunion with Payton could be in store for Hill later this offseason.
