Despite what others have reported, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that no decision has been made on quarterback Russell Wilson.
Even though Wilson was benched for the final couple weeks of the season, Payton isn’t sure what’s going to happen with Wilson for next season.
“It’s too early,” Payton said, (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk). “I spent half an hour with Russ yesterday and I told him ‘Look, I don’t think it’s going to be a long, drawn-out process but it hasn’t been decided relative to what our plans are.’”
Part of the reason why Wilson was benched for the final two games was because of money. If Wilson had gotten hurt, the Broncos would’ve been on the hook for an extra $37 million.
That’s why a divorce seems like the likely scenario but nothing has been agreed on just yet.
We’ll have to see what the next two months have in store for Wilson and the team.
