Beating the Falcons puts them back on the right path
The Denver Broncos will look to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. When the Atlanta Falcons come to Denver, Bo Nix will have the opportunity to put points on the board, and get the Broncos back in the win column.
The second loss in a row was difficult to take for Broncos Country. Aside from the blocked field goal at the end of the game, it seemed as if the refs had a heavy hand in the outcome, as well.
While that stings, there is some encouragement to be taken from the loss. On Odds and Endzones, Ian and I talked about how Nix should have walked away with a signature rookie win. The defense held Patrick Mahomes in check. What did DeAndre Hopkins do, aside from a shoulder shimmy after an 8 yard catch. Generally, it was a pedestrian type of day for him.
Travis Kelce had a good day, but that only translated to one touchdown for the Chiefs.
And so the Broncos will head into their matchup against the Falcons as a… 1 point favorite?
I don’t get it either, but here is what I know. Vance Joseph has his defense doing things that make opposing QBs shiver. With all the blitz packages, it is tough to get into rhythm against the pass rush. Add the play of Pat Surtain II, Rilye Moss, and Ja’Quan McMillian, and the defense is putting this team in a position to win.
It seems like this is said every week, but this is a big game for the Broncos. How will they respond to a tough loss? Can they find a win after losing two big games? Will they be able to keep their playoff hopes alive?
Beating the Falcons will go a long way to answering so many questions.
