NBC made an interesting Olympics decision this year by choosing Peyton Manning and Kelly Clarkson to join Mike Tirico as commentators for the Opening Ceremony in Paris.
There are plenty of football fans who love Manning, and they undoubtedly appreciated the ex-quarterback’s wristband bit and his SkyGate reference following Canada’s soccer cheating scandal. But for every fan who was pleased to see Manning as part of the coverage, there seems to be many more upset by it.
The most common question on Twitter/X has been, Why? Manning was a great American athlete and one of the best QBs in NFL history, but he never participated in the Olympics. Why is he involved in the coverage?
