Two days after being waived from the Minnesota Vikings’ active roster, quarterback Brett Rypien has returned to the team.
Rypien (6-2, 210 pounds) cleared waivers and re-signed on Minnesota’s practice squad on Thursday, the team announced.
The nephew of Super Bowl-winning quarterback Mark Rypien, Brett entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State with the Denver Broncos in 2019. He spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Broncos and went 2-1 as a fill-in starter.
Rypien’s rookie contract expired following the 2022 season and he went on to spend time with the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, Chicago Bears and Vikings. He’s now back in Minnesota as a reserve quarterback on the practice squad.

The Arizona Cardinals signed defensive lineman P.J. Mustipher to a reserve/future contract, the Kansas City Chiefs signed returner Montrell Washington to their practice squad, the Pittsburgh Steelers designated offensive tackle Calvin Anderson to return, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed defensive lineman Adam Gotsis to their practice squad.
