Well a lot went wrong, but let’s see if we can narrow it down to just a couple of things…
In the Dublin to Denver podcast above, the guys gave their opinion on what went wrong for the Denver Broncos in their 34-27 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. However, I have a laundry list to share myself. So let’s air out those grievances.
After thinking about last night’s game a lot, I’ve got a few main grievances that cost the Broncos a game they had well in hand to win.
- Sean Payton’s decision-making on the final drive of the first half.
- Sean Payton’s decision-making run the ball seven times in the second half.
- Refs called 1 penalty on the Chargers all night despite many missed calls.
Those were the things that annoyed me the most — outside of one of the announcers in this game being an obvious Chargers homer to the point of me having to mute the game.
The situation with the refs is out of anyone’s control. They were badly biased one way last night, but if it wasn’t for Sean Payton basically screwing the pooch in the first two areas then I think Denver wins that game.
The rushing attack was working really well, but he completely abandoned any semblance of sticking to it and whatever he was thinking on that drive at the end of the first half is another thing. Under a minute to go on the road with poor field position and a two score lead? What are you even doing, Sean?
Anyway, that all said, the Broncos are 9-6 and need to win one of their last two games. Something tells me it’s going to be a rough go at it now.
