The linebacker put Lutz on his fantasy team and was pretty happy with the outcome.
While we’ve been busy handing out award after award to quarterback Bo Nix, we can’t overlook Wil Lutz being named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his 17-point performance — a career high — in Denver’s 29-19 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kickers are people too, after all.
5-for-5 and a career-high 17 points.

Alex Singleton knows it. The injured linebacker started Lutz for his fantasy football team on Sunday.
“17 points, but 22 points for Alex Singleton’s fantasy team,” Lutz said after the game. “He’s very grateful. He reminded me of that after every one of them.”
Against the Raiders, Lutz tied his career-high with five field goals made on five attempts, and for the first game of his career, Lutz hit two field goals of at least 50 yards.
The performance definitely didn’t get overlooked by head coach Sean Payton, who brought Lutz to Denver last season.
“His Kansas City kick got blocked, but it was a good kick. That was on us as coaches. That wasn’t on any individual player,” Payton said. “Wil is doing well. Shoot, he’s got a live leg. He was solid today. Yeah, his body of work has been really good.”

Lutz is 24-of-27 on field goal attempts this season with a long of 54 yards. He’s 26-of-26 on extra points attempts, scoring 98 points so far in 2024.
This was Lutz’s second AFC Special Teams Player of the Week this season after earning those honors in Week 3 and the sixth weekly recognition of his career.
The nine-year veteran is the first Bronco to win Player of the Week honors twice in a season since kicker Brandon McManus was honored in Weeks 4 and 6 in 2020.
Lutz is the fourth Broncos kicker to earn Player of the Week honors, along with McManus (2020, ’21), Matt Prater (2008, ’09, ’11, ’12, ’13) and Jason Elam (1998, ’99, 2003, ’04, ’07, ’08, ’09). Since its inception in 1993, a Bronco has won AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors 35 times.
This also marks the fifth time a Bronco has been named AFC Player of the Week this season. Along with his Week 3 honor, Lutz joins cornerback Pat Surtain II (Week 5), inside linebacker Cody Barton (Week 7 and quarterback Bo Nix (Week 11).
