Last year the Colorado-Colorado State game was one of the most watched September games of the college football season
With the two schools set to renew their rivalry at CSU’s Canvas Stadium this weekend, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders wants to bury the hatchet with CSU’s Jay Norvell and his family. Specifically, with Norvell’s wife.
Speaking to reporters this week, Sanders was asked about alleged negative comments that Norvell and his connections made about his program. Sanders dismissed the question, stating that he got to meet Norvell’s wife during the Big 12 Media Days and found her “delightful.”
Sanders said that he won’t judge people “based off what they say when they’re emotional.”
“Well, I had the honor and the pleasure at the Big 12 meetings to meet his wife,” Sanders said. “She’s delightful. I’m not looking for an apology. I just met her. She was delightful … I don’t judge people based off what they say when they’re emotional. I can’t do that man. My heart ain’t built like that. When you show me who you are, I gotta believe you, but I hadn’t seen that. I just met his wife and she was delightful.”
The negative comments in question were Norvell being asked what feelings Sanders inspires in him, per the Denver Gazette. Norvell said that he doesn’t have any feeling about Sanders and doesn’t even think about him.
“I don’t have any feelings for Deion Sanders, I really don’t,” Norvell said, per the Denver Gazette. “I don’t think about Deion Sanders unless you guys ask me a question about him. No, nothing’s changed.”
Last year the Colorado-Colorado State game was the fifth-most watched game in college football.
Will this game enjoy similarly high fan excitement?
