Years ago Colin Cowherd dubbed the Iowa Hawkeyes “the Fake ID of college football” for enjoying a very successful season despite a rather weak schedule. Now he’s brought back his “Fake ID of college football” designation and given it to someone new: Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.
On Wednesday’s edition of The Herd, the Fox Sports host said that Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes deserve the moniker because of how poorly they’ve played against FBS teams lately and that they’re basically all bark and no bite – or, in his words, “Somebody who is talking a big game, a little thirsty, but not of legal age — kind of a poser.”
“It’s time for a new fake ID of college football. Somebody who is talking a big game, a little thirsty, but not of legal age — kind of a poser,” Cowherd said. “I think it’s Colorado. Deion Sanders is the new fake ID of college football.”
Cowherd went so far as to say that at least Iowa was good at times while making a drinking reference.
“At least Iowa could hold their liquor,” Cowherd continued. “These guys are vomiting over themselves after a margarita. They’ve lost seven straight games to FBS teams, and have the worst-run offense in America. Can’t defend the run, can’t play play defense, tackle poorly.”
Move over Iowa…

Colorado are coming off a brutal loss to Nebraska that saw the Buffaloes get blown out 28-10. Things aren’t likely to get a whole lot easier for them in the weeks to come.
Are Sanders and the Buffaloes really worthy of being called “the Fake ID of college football?”
