The Buffs had a rough time in Kansas.
The Colorado Buffaloes dropped to #23 in the latest AP Poll. This follows their 37-21 drubbing at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday, a game in which the Buffs struggled badly on the defensive side of the ball.
Everything went wrong. CU’s defensive line got pushed around and held, the second level missed tackles time after time, and no one stepped to force a stop or turnover. To make matters worse, the Buffs struggled to put drives together, their playcalling was predictable and the only positive plays they got were big gains from the future Heisman winner.
That was the worst game of football Colorado has played since their road loss to Nebraska. The Buffs won four straight games and were on their way to the Big 12 title game with an 8-2 overall record. Unfortunately this loss has set them back and they need two of Arizona State, BYU and Iowa State to lose this coming weekend.
Of course the Buffs will have to take care of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. It’s tempting to make fun of the worst Pokes team of the last 20 years, especially when Mike Gundy defended drunk driving to ensure Ollie Gordon suited up in orange and black, but the Buffs can’t afford to overlook another opponent.
