The 2025 college football season will be here before you know it.
Deion Sanders and the Colorado football team already knew their 2025 opponents, but the Big 12’s full schedule release on Tuesday morning provided even more clarity.
The Buffs will play seven home games in 2025 (six in 2024), including four of their first five.

5 toughest games on Colorado’s schedule
Week 1 vs. Georgia Tech: The season opener will tell Colorado football fans a lot about how the 2025 campaign will go. Whether it’s Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter or true freshman Kaidon Salter under center, the Buffs will have an entirely new look offensively.
Georgia Tech went 7-6 (5-3 ACC) in 2024 and return veteran, dual-threat QB Haynes King. Robert Livingston’s defense might have to carry the load early on in the season while the offense finds its footing.
Week 5 vs. BYU: Everyone loves a good rematch. This is a game that has likely been circled on the Buffs’ schedule since opponents were announced. BYU ended Colorado’s season with a beatdown in the 2024 Alamo Bowl.
The Cougars were one of four teams tied for first place in the Big 12 last season and they also return their starting QB (Jake Retzlaff). This game being played in Boulder is a massive advantage for the Buffs.
Week 9 at Utah: The Utes were one of the most disappointing teams in the Big 12 last season largely due to QB play. Utah addressed that this offseason by landing former New Mexico QB Devon Dampier, who accounted for nearly 4,000 total yards of offense in 2024.
The Colorado football team hasn’t beaten Utah in Salt Lake City since 2011 (0-6 since then). Especially with this matchup coming off the Buffs’ first bye week of the season, it’s one of the most important games on the schedule.
Week 13 vs. Arizona State: Arizona State made the Big 12 proud by making the College Football Playoff and giving Texas a run for their money. The Colorado football team won’t care anything about that, though, when it hosts the Sun Devils in November.
This is a matchup that could very well end up having major Big 12 Championship Game implications.
Week 14 at Kansas State: It was an instant classic when Colorado football and Kansas State met in 2024. The 2025 regular season finale might bring a similar result.
Avery Johnson and former Buff Dylan Edwards are back for the Wildcats which means this game should have no shortage of fireworks. It could also help determine the Big 12 champion.
