It’s safe to say that Colorado State isn’t exactly on the level of the Nebraska Cornhuskers – offensively or defensively – with the way that Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes have handled them today.
After suffering a blowout loss in Week 2 to Nebraska, Sanders and the Buffaloes were hoping for a bounceback performance against the Rams at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.
Thus far, it’s been exactly what they wanted it to be.
Colorado has taken a 14-3 halftime lead over Colorado State thanks to a sharp performance from star quarterback Shedeur Sanders and versatile receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
Sanders is 20 of 27 for 167 yards and two touchdown passes to LaJohntay Wester, while Travis Hunter once again leads the team in receptions and receiving yards through the half. Hunter is also putting in the work at defensive back as usual.
Arguably the biggest star of the show has been Colorado’s defense, which did not allow a first-half touchdown for the first time in Coach Prime’s tenure.
The Buffaloes have limited the Rams to just five first-downs and 116 yards of offense.
Colorado can’t afford to get complacent though. They’ve blown more than enough leads to need to stay in control and avoid making any big mistakes.
But if they can finish off the game with a win, they’ll get to return to Folsom Field for their first in-conference game as a member of the Big 12 against Baylor next week with their heads held high.
The game is being played on CBS.
